Pakistan's top order, batsmen one to seven, had the best average for Test cricket in 2015, their nine players averaging 54.20 from five matches and combined 56 innings.
Ranked four in the world, Pakistan will be trying to overtake third-ranked Australia and second-ranked India some time this year.
The ratings of these three teams are so close that should any of the two falter and Pakistan stand firm, a change in the order will definitely take place.
Top-ranked South Africa are just four points ahead of India, five ahead of Australia and eight in front of Pakistan.
Younis Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Azhar Ali featured in Pakistan's top order the past year.
Their number four, Younis Khan, was the most impressive with a batting average of 60.69 that included three centuries and a half-century.
New Zealand, which played only two Tests last year, had the second best top order in Tests. Their eight batsmen used finished the season with a batting average of 43.55.
India, which used 12 batsmen during the year, averaged 40.36 in their top order with Bangladesh, believe it or not, boasting their fourth best Test top order in 2015.
The Bangladeshis averaged 39.89.
At the bottom of the nine Test teams were, not suprisingly, the West Indies, with a batting average of 26.28 with use of 10 players in the top order the past year.
